CITY GOVERNMENT MEETING SCHEDULE

The Long Beach City Council meets on the first and third Tuesdays of every month at 7:00 pm.  The City Council holds a Good and Welfare Meeting on the first Tuesday, at the close of its business meeting.  Anyone who registers in advance of the business meeting start time (7:00 p.m.) may address the Council at the Good and Welfare Meeting about any issue.

 

COMMUNITY GRANTS

Funds are available to those who qualify for weatherization of your home.  (Doors, windows, hot water heaters, etc.)  Call Laurie Buscemi at City Hall (516) 431-1000 x 7219 for more details and to sign up!

 

LONG BEACH LIBRARY—WEST END BRANCH

The new West End Branch of the Long Beach Public Library, pictured above, is located at 810 West Beech Street at the corner of California Street Hours are:

Tuesday, Wednesday 1 pm - 5 pm

Thursday 4 pm - 8 pm

Friday, Saturday 10 am - 2 pm

Sunday, Monday CLOSED

The branch’s collections include children’s books, adult fiction, and a modest non-fiction collection, along with two computers and a copy machine.  WEN is grateful to the Palmieri Family for all their efforts to establish the new branch.  Please patronize the library!

 

NATIONAL FLOOD INSURANCE PROGRAM

PROJECT CHALLENGE AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM

QUALITY OF LIFE ISSUES

LBPD Confidential Tip Line:   If you see something, say something.  To report issues in confidence, please call the Long Beach Police Department Confidential Tip Line at 516– 705-7370.

Bar Concerns:  To report over-capacity situations in bars, please call the 24 hour Fire Marshall at 516-742-3170.  For other problem bar activities — fights, after hours activities, or sales to minors — please call the State Liquor Authority at 212-961-8378.

 

SHOPPERS’ SPECIAL BUS

The Shoppers’ Special Bus operates daily - Monday through Friday.  

The City of Long Beach provides a Shoppers’ Special Bus that runs east to west, stopping at the Recreation Center and throughout all the shopping districts in the City.  The Shoppers’ Special eliminates the need to change buses to get to the center of town.  For the latest schedule and stop information, please call the City’s Department of Transportation at 431-1000, x 326.  The City’s Transportation web page is accessible by clicking here.      

Exact change is needed for bus fare.  Currently, fares are  $1.50 and $.50 for students, seniors, and handicapped or Medicare card holders.
